Tangan Terbuka is an open-source engineering initiative dedicated to developing affordable, accessible upper-limb prostheses for low-resource communities across Indonesia. Our research focuses on Sentuh Terbuka, which is a custom bionic prototype engineered from flexible TPU filament to optimize grip stability. Powered by an accessible Arduino microcontroller, the design integrates an intelligent closed-loop sensory array to deliver realistic haptic grip feedback and vital thermal safety alerts directly to the user.

Tangan Terbuka is an open-source engineering initiative developed as part of an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). The core of this research focuses on Sentuh Terbuka; a physical bionic prototype engineered from flexible TPU filament to optimize grip friction. Powered by an accessible ESP32 microcontroller, the design integrates an intelligent closed-loop sensory array to deliver realistic haptic grip feedback and vital pressure safety alerts to the user.

Our Mission: Bridging the Accessibility Gap
Traditional bionic prosthetics remain financially and geographically out of reach for many low-resource communities across Indonesia. Our mission is to democratize assistive technology. By shifting away from centralized, expensive manufacturing, we aim to design high-performance, open-source alternatives that can be replicated anywhere using budget-friendly 3D printers and accessible electronics.

- Printed using flexible 95A TPU plastic. This gives the fingers a soft, rubbery grip that mimics human skin and handles rough daily use.
